Christopher Bassett was appointed as Bass Trombonist of the San Francisco Symphony by Esa-Pekka Salonen in 2024. Prior, he served as bass trombonist with the St. Louis Symphony, the Jacksonville Symphony, and Santa Fe Opera. He is a cofounder of the Southwest Trombone Conference and regularly appears as guest artist and soloist around the globe. His accolades include grand prize at the Zellmer competition and first prize in the Edward Kleinhammer competition.
